Wetlands Art – 2026 Island-wide Art Competition

To commemorate World Wetlands Day on 02 February 2026, the Central Environmental Authority, the Department of Wildlife Conservation, and the Ministry of Education, together with the media sponsorship of Wijeya Newspapers Ltd., invite submissions for the Island-wide Art Competition. The competition will be held under two categories: School Category and Open Category.

Artworks (published drawings) can be submitted under the theme: “Wetlands and Traditional Knowledge: Celebrating Cultural Heritage”

Competition Guidelines

• Each participant may submit only one artwork. Age Categories

Artwork Size

• All artworks submitted must be 18 x 14 inches in size. Medium
• Colouring media such as pastels or watercolours may be used.
• The following details must be written on the back of the artwork:
  • School Section
    • Applicant’s name, school name and address, grade, date of birth, personal address, telephone number, district, and province. (Please write your details clearly.)
    • The submission must be recommended and certified by the Principal, Sectional Head, or Class Teacher.
  • Open Section
    • Applicant’s name, personal address, telephone number, district, and province. (Please write your details clearly.)
• The artwork, with all required information, must be posted or handed over to the address given below.
• On the top left corner of the front side of the artwork, include:
  • “Wetlands Art”, District – ___________________________
  • World Wetlands Day – 2026, Section – _____________ ,
  • Category – __________________________________________
• Final date for submission: 02 January 2026.

• The decision of the judging panel is final.
• A variety of valuable prizes including cash awards and certificates will be presented.

• Seven merit certificates will be awarded in each category.
